Home of 7 National Titles and 2 Grand Champion Titles!!!

Keystone Extreme Information

Keystone Extreme is the first and most successful competitive cheerleading and dance program in Northeast PA. From our first practice in the summer of 2001 to its current status as the top all-star program here in Northeastern Pennsylvania, Keystone Extreme has always strived to be “the best of the best.”

Through competitions, performances, and practices, our staff works to develop the whole athlete - physically, mentally, and emotionally. We offer a wide variety of instruction in competitive cheerleading, dance, tumbling and stunts. We have won over 100 national and regional titles in only 7 years of existence!!!

While the most obvious way that we help the youth in our program is by bettering their skills and helping them reach their athletic potential, we believe our program serves a higher purpose. Our mission is to foster individual strengths while striving towards excellence as a team and all star program. Though our focus is on the skills needed for all star cheerleading, Keystone Extreme has always prided itself on having a “family atmosphere”. Our program teaches children the importance of sportsmanship, camaraderie, goal setting, motivation and most importantly teamwork. We believe that the possibilities are endless when you set goals and work at them as a team.

Our Members come from over 42 different schools and you would never know it at a practice or competition. Though our various teambuilding events such as retreat nights, holiday parties, community service events and team dinners, we make a team out of strangers each and every year. While we are the most accomplished gym in the area, we are most proud of the life lessons, friendships, community services and motivation that we have been able to give to the youth in our program.

Recruiting Policy

We would like to remind everyone of our policy regarding recruiting athletes from other programs to come to Keystone Extreme.  This applies to coaches, athletes, and parents.

1.  We do NOT want you to approach someone whom you know is already a part of another all-star program.

2.  If they approach YOU initially, then please feel free to share your experience with Keystone Extreme.  Basically if THEY bring up that they are perhaps interested in leaving their program or coming to ours, then we are OK with you telling them about the benefits of Keystone Extreme.

3.  Please do NOT speak negatively of any other program or team.

We absolutely appreciate all of the loyal Keystone Extreme customers sharing their enthusiasm for the Keystone Extreme family.  However, we feel that encouraging someone to quit another gym is tacky and unprofessional.  While perhaps not every gym in our area abides by this code of professional conduct and courtesy, we are going to follow that standard regardless of what other gyms choose to do.

If you are approached by an employee of another organization encouraging you to quit our program, please let us know so that we can take that up with them.

Testimonials

Ever wonder why there's so much excitement about Keystone Extreme? We've decided to give you an up close and personal look from the PARENT PERSPECTIVEand ATHLETE PERSPECTIVE of our gym. These comments have come to us through surveys, e-mails and letters, and are an accurate representation of our gym and philosphies through the eyes of our parents. We believe our gym teaches life values through cheerleading, and we think you'll see that our parents agree! We have a GREAT group of parents who are very supportive of their athletes. Our parents are a very special part of the EXTREME FAMILY!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you so much for everything you have brought into our children's lives. Never in a million years did I think that Brianna could be in a loud auditorium with tons of people, loud music, a scratchy costume and love every minute of it! I never thought Aleah could learn to love being in a group and sharing the spotlight. They never would have come this far if not for your hard work and dedication starting this special needs cheer team. That first day all of us parents watched our kids flipping out, stimming, screaming, holding their ears, running out of the room (or not going in in the first place) and we all kind of said, "Well, it was a nice dream while it lasted." Imagine our shock when a few weeks later they all started to work together as a team and cry when they had to leave cheer. The teachers, Dr's and other therapists have all seen a huge change for the better in both my girls and I know it would not have happened without the Fire team. My girls are so proud of themselves and love watching the video that Dr. Lena made and watching themselves online. Tori actually knows all the cheer by heart and does it right along with them (I think we have a 3rd little cheerleader in our family!) It's amazing to see Brianna be able to handle things that would have set her sensory problems in overdrive before she started cheerleading (she keeps telling me she wants to be the person that gets tossed up in the air and caught.) Their teachers are so proud and played the video for their classes to see.

Thank you so much for working with us.  When I thought we would have to pull them out of cheer it broke our hearts because that was the one thing that seemed to really be helping both of them. We can not thank you enough. It really is the best investment we have ever made and we are looking so forward to next season all ready. The girls ask every week when they are going to cheer practice again!

It's also been so healing being with other Mother's who are dealing with the same stuff I am. They are all dealing with the same things I am and have given such great advice or just listened when I felt overwhelmed or depressed over things that come with raising a special needs child. I'm so thankful to be around such a great bunch of people like Patty who took the girls to the competitions and Tanina who helped Brie stay on task. It's just been such an awesome experience and Jim and I thank you for having the dream and the drive to start this very special team called Fire!

Thank you,
Michele and Jim Propes

I really want to say thanks from the bottom of my heart for Denise starting this program. Just a little back ground on my babe, My first bundle of joy I waited so long for. It was after Emilee was born was when we found out she had Down Syndrome...This was a rough adjustment for me, my husband and my whole family. So many questions of WHY? Believe me you could not imagine the things that went through our minds about her, besides the obvious (why us?) and (why her ?). The concern for her health was the most important., we had a few scares but she is very healthy thank god for that!! Also we thought, what will the future hold for her? How far will she go? What will she be able to do? What opportunities will she have ?Will she go to a regular school? Among a million more questions the yet remain unanswered. I have accepted the fact that all questions we have about her will get answered little by little..As time goes on our questions will get answered. (I wouldn't Trade her for the world!!)

Until now, I never dreamed Emilee would be able to be in such a program, especially to perform and receive awards! I was very nervous to call and even ask, she was only 4 yrs. old at the time, she is 5 now. Emilee is very much a lover, she loves everyone. But there was still questions because of her mental disabilities and delays I wasn't sure Emilee would be able to handle following directions and have the ability for memory portion of a routine. Well let me tell you she has amazed me time and time again..If you were to see how she was from day one until now, what a difference in what she can do and remember! She has finally learned to jump, talking a lot more and at this last competition, I think it was the best she has done yet! At every competition, my heart was in my throat just watching..I think all our mom's would agree, we cried at everyone!! Just so Proud of the Teams accomplishments...

I feel I owe a lot to Miss Stephanie for helping her coaching her and keeping her on track.. Emilee is more of a one on one person so it was important for the same person to be with her and enforce the rules so to speak. I know Emilee Loves Miss Step...She has surprised me at what did accomplish in the group setting. This is good for her to see and do things with other's. It has also helped her in the Pre-K class at Forest City School. Big difference in listening and following directions and her attention span has really increased which was one of her biggest issues. Some group things at school are a little tough but is doing so much better. She still loves the one on one attention the best, and does really well.

Last but not least, I would like to thank the Keystone Staff and all the girls/guys that have helped with Team FIRE through out the season..It took a lot of extra help to get them going and get them where they are today..A special thanks needs to go out to Tinnina Atherton-Ely and Grace Caravan. They stick out in my mind because they have been there for all practices and at all the competitions to help out. It takes dedication when they can be doing other things. The kids get attached to them and you can see that..It takes a lot of courage to get involved with Children that do have special needs...It is not easy at times but from what I saw as a parent, they did very well and learned a lot too. I hope that all member's who were involved with all of our kids
can take this experience with them and help someone else in the future.

I Love Keystone and Staff...Thank you from the bottom of my heart...Kathy Smith

P.S      I would also like to commend Patty Lindsey for all the extra help she provided for Aleah and Brianna Propes to be able to stay involved in Keystone Extreme Fire...She really went above and beyond to help take care of them and get them to the competitions and practices!!!

Hi Denise, I am glad my girls joined extreme. I can really say me running back in forth to practice, to photo shoots, to the parade and to the video shoot all paid off watching the girls and boys come together and perform as great as they did...and they performed on top of their level.  This weekend was the first time I got to see the parents perform and it was great...i loved it.

GREAT WORK!!!!!!!!! To you and your staff members!!!! Thanks for the great season and introducing and teaching me to the sport of cheerleading.

-Steve Diaz

5/10/2009

We (the parents) were so proud of the girls on Inferno.  In spite of the problems and obstacles they faced this season, they didn't give up and they hung on to the end - and they made it well worth it!!   We were crying both after their performance and at awards.  I was so proud of all of the girls on all of the teams - it was such an amazing day for Keystone as a whole.  Thank you and all of the coaches for everything you do for these girls.  I don't know what else to say right now - you know my daughters and I so well by now so you can imagine how we felt when we left the Giant Center Saturday night.  On the way home, they were so excited and talked non-stop about the competition, about looking forward to next year, etc.  After they fell asleep, I looked back at them in the car - asleep with their medals still on- and was so proud of them for all they have accomplished and for how hard they have worked.  There are so many people supporting you that will do whatever we can for these girls and their gym. love, Sharon

5/10/2009

Well, congratulations!!!!  What a great ending to a season.  The teams gave great performances, and you could just feel the positive vibes.  Thank you all for everything!  Lisa

Joachim was a child not communicating well with strangers and known people. He couldn't stand-up without help and also couldn't walk long distance for a period of time and had trouble in his speech/articulation. His behavior at times was unpredictable and inappropriate though he would never hurt anyone.  But he always had a beautiful and pleasant personality.

So when Denise asked me to join the Cheerleading team, I was thinking how could Joachim join with his physical and mental disability and I was very nervous and leery about it, I didn't join for 3-4 weeks.  But Denise convinced me that Joachim could perform and she would be there along with other therapists on one-on-one level.

I remember going to the gym on day1 with pounding heart and I wouldn't talk to anyone else. Very cautious as to what to say or expect from Joachim. I didn't realize that the other parents were going through the same at that time.  I wouldn't sign up for the competition.  I told Denise I would bring him only for the practice.

But as time went on Oh my God!!!!  what a marvelous impact the cheerleading had on him!!! He was having so much fun and he would start to cry when the practice was over. He didn't want to leave the gym. He was mesmerized.
All he talked about on the way home and at home was Denise. She is such an Angel!!!

Besides the other children who were in the regular teams along with their parents treated these special needs kids with such love, care and compassion, it made my heart to cry in joy.

These made to think twice about competition.  Other parents were convincing to me. My special Thanks go to Margarita - Vito's mom, who offered me to accompany them to go to the first competition in Dallastown. She witnessed Joachim's pleading cry to go to the competition but I was not going to drive alone with Joachim...he couldn't tolerate long distance travel.
So I agreed to go....My God Denise and coach Stephanie were thrilled.
I just couldn't believe everyone in the arena was cheering for these special children and they were given standing ovation after their performance. Couple of the judges were in tears! I was in awe. I just couldn't believe this!!!
After the first competition, I vowed to myself that I will not miss any other event. The excitement and smile on Joachim's face was priceless!

At the beginning of the season Joachim couldn’t perform anything independently and I remember his helper Grace had to hold and support him constantly and I was very nervous and anxious about his performance and behavior, but at the end of the season he was running on his own though he still needed a bit support, he was having so much fun, enjoying interacting with all the other children and had developed sportsmanship and enthusiasm.

After going for cheerleading it was clear that the spirit, development and the enthusiasm shown by Joachim in the last six months were stronger than ever. He had improved his confidence because it made him learn how to perform in front of a large crowd under pressure. He is constantly moving, enjoying and team building. Perhaps the key physical development here for Joachim is building stamina, strength and flexibility. It would sure to improve his confidence and give an opportunity to learn how to bond with others, self esteem, self confidence, social relationships and to speak loud and clear.

It offered Joachim a unique opportunity for personal growth, leadership and involvement in diverse activities for example he could travel long distances with a group of people at the same time having fun. He also would learn the level of performance, self-discipline, respect for others, personal conduct, and learning responsibilities.

As a mother and medical doctor of Joachim, I could see the future looks bright for Joachim as reflected in the smiles of millions of people throughout the world. Already medical records claim that the number of permanently disabled cheerleaders has increased and hope more people of all ages and with a physical and/or intellectual disability could join this gym sport. Being more positive and optimistic will not only help Joachim physically and mentally but will also shape his life.

As a mom seeing my child doing a competitive sports and coming home with medallions and trophies which I never dreamt of in my life and him enjoying it is the greatest joy I have ever felt.  I am a PROUD MOM now!!!

I know all the parents in the team FIRE would agree with me this is how they feel/felt in regards to their own child.

Thanks to Denise for starting such an excellent program for the special needs children.

Bless all the coaches, parents and all the children who treat these kids equal.

Hooray to KEYSTONE EXTREME !!!

Go FIRE Go!!!

Denise - you and your team of instructors are amazing!  Your energy and positive attitudes have been passed on to the teams! Just wanted to drop you an email to again thank you for all that you and the other instructors do to provide such a wonderful experiece not only for our daughters but for all of us. My niece was able to join us at the Philly competition this weekend.  She has been to many competitions before with her friends and was impressed with your program and the amount of family and friend support at the competition.

Thank you.

4/7/2009

Miss Sue:  Hello our awesome coach!!!!  As proud as the girls are of themselves, I hope you are just as proud of yourself as their coach.  You do an amazing job with these girls, not just coaching them on their skills but also "coaching" them on their selfr-esteem, self-confidence, teamwork, etc.  I am so lucky to have you coaching my daughters - you have helped them improve so much not only as cheerleaders but as young ladies.  I have tears in my eyes, again, as I type this thinking about this weekend and the huge smiles on faces of those girls when they were performing and knew that they hit their routine and the prize was theirs for the taking. Saying "thank you" just doesn't seem enough about how we feel but I hope you know how much my girls and I admire, respect, and love you!!!!!! -- Sharon, Sara, and Megan

4/8/09
Sue
Thank you for your hard work and dedication to the Rockets.  It is so clear that this group of young ladies is a strong team and so deserving of their awards over the past weekend.  Without coaches like yourself and Denise encouraging them and providing the support to do their best they would not excel.

Thanks again and congratulations to you - now you can wear your coat to work and around town.
-Kim

4/7/2009

Sue,

Just a little note to let you know that you are appreciated and certainly recognized now by not only we parents and cheerleaders but all East coast squads, families, friends and ACDA staff. CONGRATULATIONS go to you also.

Your attention to detail is one of the factors that make the "Rockets" the best of the best. Yes you push the girls hard, expect nothing but their best and have a great eye to fine tune them. I do not believe I will hear another complaint out of any of them...........at this point you could tell them to do the routine with their eyes closed and they would. I believe that is trust, admiration, love and respect. What great attributes to instill in our children, all of which you deserve.

"The Jacket" is awesome, the confidence is out of this world and the showmanship has reached a high point for all the girls. Thank you for being a part of this program and Allie's life.

Keep up the outstanding dedicated job you are doing.

Warmest regards,
Gwen

4/6/2009

Sue,
I know you already know this, but you deserve this.  You bring out the best in these girls and expect them to be their best, and they believe it.  I want to thank you for your time, dedication and being such a wonderful presence in their lives.  We are loving the jackets too!!!!!  See you Wed.
Lisa

4/6/2009

We are exhausted but still tingling.  What a great feeling and so much excitement! Way to go Rockets!!!

4/6/2009

Denise:  I just wanted to say congratulations to you, Sue, and the girls - you are all amazing!!  The smiles on the girls faces when they were on the floor and hitting their routine and knew that the prize was finally in their reach will be a memory that lasts forever.   Please know that we, as the parents are behind you and the coaches and the girls and will do whatever we can to help you accomplish anything with the team.  You are doing a great job with all of the teams in the program!!  Thank you from Megan, Sara, and me (Sharon).

3/15/2009

Denise,

Not only does my daughter love coming to the gym, but I have met some of my best friends here at Keystone Extreme. It is not just somewhere to drop off my kid for a couple hours during the week, it is a place where I talk to other parents in the waiting room, go for a walk...heck even cheer on the parents team. I just feel so fortunate to have met you and this gym!

3/15/2009

Denise,

I remember walking into the gym and hearing from other parents that as soon as they join a team and stick with it, I would  have a hard time pulling my child away from this place.... and I remember thinking... "yeah right". But now... her whole room is decorated, the computer is filled with cheerleading pictures, and I do really LIVE at this gym. Thank you for this opportunity that you have given my daughter. We never thought that competitive cheerleading was an option for her because of cost and travel, but your pre-CAST team was the PERFECT match for my daughter and my family! You and your staff do an amazing job at bringing them together and it shows in the way they love your program. We can't wait for next season already!

3/10/09

I am so proud that our entire family is part of the Keystone Extreme Family.  It is truly addicting!  I could not believe the turn out at Keystone State games on March 8th.  We had a great time.  (The parents are having way too much fun!)  There were so many competitive teams at our levels and it was amazing to see how well all of our teams did.  We cannot wait for the next competition.  My daughters have truly been effected by your program.  You and your coaches are fantastic.  I am thankful to be involved and that you have touched our lives.  You have given many girls hope at something they may never have experienced if we did not join Keystone.  What you teach our children is about human values - that the material things really don't matter.  That is what is different about your program.  We are all on an equal playing ground no matter what type of background we all come from.  We are here to learn the confidence that you teach and how to become better at cheer but also a better overall person. We look forward to many years with you Denise!  We love you and all of your staff!

3/10/09

What an amazing first experience!  We were so touched by the exuberant performance of Fire and so very, very proud of all the Keystone Extreme Teams.  It was lovely to be a part of that beautiful sea of blue and orange. What a remarkable experience for our family.  Thank you KEAS Coaches and Staff.

3/10/2009
Denise,
I just wanted to thank you and all of the coaches for the great job you did. Especially with the Flares. It was amazing and I am so proud of the girls and coaching staff. I can't wait to see what they can do at the next competition.
Lenore Kizer

3/10/09

Denise,
At competition I sat next to a couple from another all star cheer and quickly started into a conversation. She was amazed at the parental support, the way our teams and coaches looked and proudly stood and cheered for our Fire team. She asked how many years we had been cheering there and I told her about it being the first for many of the teams she was watching. She didn't believe me. It is surely a testiment of the quality program we are involved in. I am very proud of not only all the girls who participated and worked so very hard, but also the staff to for there dedication and commitment to our girls. My daughter is a part of the Boltz team, she has been cheering for years in other programs, however, I feel she has more confidence than ever being apart of this team. So thank you so much and especially a congratulations to you!!!!!!

Sincerely, Valerie Bronack

Denise,
Thanks you for all of what you are doing for my daughter, she has grown and learned a lot in this short 3 months. She is passionate and exited to be part of the team and works really hard to get better every day. It was an amazing experience for us, my wife and I and me to see her competing and enjoying on Sunday.
You and the coaches had inspired her to the level that is one of the most important things in her days.
The work you and the coaches are doing is fantastic.
Thanks, Raul Moliva

HI Denise, I would like to thank you!  For being a wonderful coach and mentor.  Both of my daughters look up to you and the rest of the coaching staff and they have made such improvements with their cheering and how they carry themselves.  I was brought to tears (of joy) when I watched the girls and Fire.  It truly is a wonderful thing you do with the children.  I was definitely miss you all next year. From me to you...thank you! Can't wait until April!

Hi Denise, I stumbled across Keystone Extreme's Web site in the fall--my daughter wanted to take tumbling classes before trying out for her high-school squad and I noticed you gave private tumbling lessons. Well, the instruction and facilities at Keystone are just amazing! It wasn't long before your staff asked my daughter to join Pre-CAST. We weren't sure she had the time--but she and I both so glad she joined. Being part of Keystone has been SUCH a wonderful experience for her. She has learned a great deal and loves it--and was so very proud at the competition to be part of such an incredible team. She cheered most of the way home. I am in awe of your patience, energy, and knowledge and I thank you for being such a positive influence in my daughter's life.

Sincerely, Tracey Biscontini

Ever since my daughter started all-star cheerleading we would go to the competitions and see these huge teams taking up whole sections of bleachers and would always think - wow, wouldn't that be neat, but never thought we would be a part of that.  It was absolutely amazing to look over at the bleachers where the girls were and see the whole section of orange, and then to look around me and see almost 1/2 the gym in orange!!  I had 2 parents that I know comment that they walked in the gym, stopped when they saw all of the orange, and said - well, we know Keystone is here!! I thought the entire program as a whole made a great impression at the state games.  I was very proud of all of them.  You guys (coaches) did a SUPER JOB - congratulations!!!!

My daughters grandfather cried today. He was so proud of all the things that this program stands for, team spirit, teamwork, great routines and the fire team...just sent him over the edge. We are so glad that we are a part of Keystone Extreme. My daughter has grown so much, learned more that I have ever hoped for and has become a more confident girl. I am just so glad we decided to come to Keystone Extreme!

Denise,
i just want to say thank you, to you and your staff, for the time and dedication you all gave to the flares. everything came together beautifully! What a great start to what is going to be a wonderful season! My daughter has matured so much, both athletically and emotionally, since last season. and its because of keystone. Also the fire performance was spectacular. Seeing the joy and excitement on their faces, they definitely captured the hearts of everyone! i even saw some cheerleaders from other squads chanting along. once again thank you and your staff for everything.

I just wanted to tell you what a great job you are doing with the flash/flares. My daughter loves it and she loves her team. It is such a great atmosphere to be in and we are glad we were introduced to your gym!!!

My daughters have learned more here at Keystone Extreme then they have in any other gymnastics or cheering program in only 3 months.

We have a vested interest in KEAS.  Our daughter is now an official cheer freak - and my husband is too (he will NEVER admit that!) and I love it myself.  MMy other daughter wants to do it next year if it is possible!!!

Your program is wonderful Denise and as a former Girl Scout leader and youth instructor at my church - I can look at the faces of all of the girls' whose lives you and your staff are touching by encouraging them to strive to do well.  Our kids have so many negative influences and it is wonderful for them to experience postive role models like yourself and the young ladies & gentlemen that work at your gym.  I know that I appreciate it very much and so does my daughter.

Hi Denise,
I feel very compelled to write you and tell you how much I admire you and what you have done for so many girls. Just seeing my daughter so excited and so happy to be a part of your wonderful establishment, has made myself and my husband extremely grateful. You are FANTASTIC and an inspiration to every young girl that you work with. The proof is in their faces.......all they do is smile. Now that, is priceless!
The sign on your wall in the waiting room is so so true. Leave as friends. I truly felt that way after spending 2 hours last night. I am just as excited to be part of the Keystone Extreme Family. Thank you so so much for all you do.
Sincerely,
Sherry Lynn

I love keystone Extreme because of the family atmosphere. At Keystone everyone is a big family. If you come to practice sad they will always make you happy. When girls come to practice with orange and blue braces that really shows that they really love Keystone Extreme! When we all work through hard practices it pays off when we go to competition.

At Keystone Extreme we have so much fun!! Everyone on the team is crazy. If you are down or in a bad mood, they can always cheer you up. If you are stuggling with a stunt or tumbling pass they will encourage you to do it. We all have team spirit. We wear our shirts to practice, blue and orange bows, and even orange and blue braces and nail polish. We go to competitions and shout out our cheers and let everyone know who we are. We also have the best coaches ever! They teach us everything we need to know about cheerleading. They also tell us funny stories like Miss Denise's time at the movies, all alone, at 1:00 a.m. They are the best coaches we could ask for. Our team is one big crazy family!! That is why I love Keystone Extreme.
